Introduction

Hello! I’m Lisa, a Licensed Psychological Associate (MS, LPA) in Alaska. I offer online therapy in Alaska for adults and couples, providing mental health counseling for anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and more so clients can create fulfilling, meaningful lives.I have been a psychotherapist since 1996. I began my career in Fairbanks, Alaska, continued in Washington state, then Minnesota, and returned to Alaska to settle down in 2006. A recent move due to my husband’s career means I now divide my time between Alaska and Oregon, and have moved to full-time online counseling as a result. I serve all areas of Alaska including the following and their surrounding rural communities: Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Wasilla, Palmer, Seward, Kenai, Homer, Soldotna, Sitka. I love working with our rural Alaska communities as well. All are welcome!

My style of counseling is conversational with a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach. Because I have been working as a counselor for so many years, I have developed many specialties. I specialize in treating trauma, PTSD, Complex-PTSD, anxiety, depression, OCD, parent-child issues, couples counseling, ADHD/ADD, Autism, sex therapy (individuals & couples), discernment counseling, uncoupling/separation/divorce counseling, substance use recovery support, and religious trauma. I also offer Brainspotting (click to learn more, it is similar to EMDR).

I combine evidence-based practices with interpersonal neurobiology, trauma-informed approaches, and attachment theory. I draw on all I have learned over my 30 years as a counselor to support you in developing a more fulfilling life defined by you.

I also worked as a play therapist for 23 years before limiting my counseling practice to adults only. I now use my past experience counseling children as a Parenting Educator. In addition to my professional experience, I learned so much from raising two neurodivergent children who also experienced serious medical conditions. Please let me know if you’d like to collaborate with me as a parenting educator.

Make sure you

really

connect.

It’s important to find a counselor who helps you feel safe, comfortable, open, and supported.

It may take a few sessions before we find our rhythm with each other.

Also, therapy can be challenging — it may sometimes feel painful.

Finding someone you can share your feelings, experiences, hopes, and setbacks without judgment helps to ease the pain of it.

(I offer free 20-30 minute consultations by request to see if we are a good fit)

I am offering appointments via telehealth (at https://doxy.me/lawsoncounseling). See Contact page for more details about hours and current availability. I serve all areas of Alaska including the following and their surrounding rural communities: Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Wasilla, Palmer, Seward, Kenai, Homer, Soldotna, and their surrounding communities. I love working with out Alaska Native communities as well. All are welcome!
